The Interseed Potatoes GmbH stems from the former Saatkartoffel-Handelsgesellschaft-Carolinensiel mbH. Our recognised varieties have made Interseed Potatoes GmbH well-known throughout Europe.
Simply the total area of our testing gardens, which we plant across Europe with comparable varieties from other breeding farms, covers an area that is larger than 7 football fields. Our efforts to expand the marketing activities into additional countries has been met with international interest so that we are now at home in many countries.
At the Carolinensiel site, Interseed Potatoes GmbH only breeds their own varieties in a closed system, i.e. no external plant material is used. The production of meristem buds is therefore only conducted at the main site in Carolinensiel and thereby ensures the sole use of pathogen-free preliminary plant material. As a result of the proximity to the coast (sound location), the low number of greenflies and the mineral-rich clay soil ensure fast-growing seed potatoes that can be optimally stored.
